Lucía Be [Pelayo 68, Madrid]

Spanish brand Lucía Be opened its first store in Madrid at the end of last year, but it took me so long to arrange a visit that I´ve had to wait until lock down was over... ¡But I have finally been able to go and it was worth the wait!

La marca española Lucía Be abrió su primera tienda en Madrid a finales del año pasado, y yo tardé tanto en organizarme para ir a visitarla que he tenido que esperar hasta el final del confinamiento... ¡Pero por fin he podido ir y la espera ha merecido la pena!

The space breathes Lucía Be and everything it represent such as femininity, party, craftmanship,... It´s organized in three clear areas: 1) The entrance, where there´s a beuatiful selection of their most known and desired products 2) The collections, a middle area where you can find their newest RTW and accesories 3) The lounge, where you can test their clothes and beauty products - featuring a massive pink velvet sofa and a huge pink neon (the dream!).

El espacio respira Lucía Be y todo lo que la marca representa como feminidad, verbena, artesanía... Está organizado en tres zonas muy claras: 1) La entrada, donde hay una gran selección de sus products más conocidos y deseados 2)  Las colecciones, donde encontrarás todas sus novedades en accesorios y ropa 3) El salón, lugar para probarse tanto la ropa como sus productos de belleza - acompañada por un enorme sofá de terciopelo y un neón rosa (¡un sueño!).

I particularly love a couple of original elements the refurbishment has kept, in particular the tiles flooring at the back. It´s so pretty and authentic...and creates a great connection with the surroundings and the specific area where the store is located (Madrid´s Chueca district). 

I would definitely recommend tourists and locals to stop by this little gem and spend sometime appreciating Lucía Be´s cute product range, visual merchandising elements, drawings and the space overall. 

A mi personalmente me encantan los elementos originales del local que han sido mantenidos en la reforma, en particular el suelo de azulejos de la zona trasera. Es muy bonito y auténtico, y crea una buena conexión con la zona en la que se encuentra la tienda (el barrio de Chueca) y la estética de la misma. 

Sin duda recomiendo tanto a turistas como a los locales que visiten esta pequeña joya y pasen unos minutos entre los productos de Lucía Be, su visual merchandising tan personal, sus dibujos y en general este bonito espacio. 

THE SHOP AT BLUEBIRD

 

I´ve had these pictures seating in me camera waiting to be plubished since my last visit to London back in November. I just read the news that The Shop at Bluebird has closed its doors, and decided I must write this post inmediately. 

The Shop at Bluebird has been a retail reference for me since I first moved to London years ago, when they were based in Chelsea. I loved this concept store for its design, product range, vibe,... and always made me dream about having a business like that myself one day. 

He tenido estas fotos en mi cámara desde mi última visita a Londres el pasado Noviembre. Acabo de leer la triste noticia de que The Shop at Bluebird cierra sus puertas, y he decidido que tenía que publicar este post en seguida.

The Shop at Bluebird ha sido una referencia para mi desde que me mudé a Londres por pirmera vez hace años, cuando todavía estaban en su local de Chelsea. Este concept store me encantó desde el primer día por su diseño, selección de producto, ambiente,... y siempre me hacía soñar con tener un negocio así algún día. 

Its new location in Covent Garden was, in my opinion, less iconic and integrated that its previous one on the famous King´s Road (which may be one of the reasons the business didn´t do so well this last era). However the interior design of the space was as amazing and well-thought as the original one. 

The store combined classic furniture with the most modern options. They used recycled materials such as plastic (seen on the cashdesks) and the presence of vegetation made the environment extremely pleasant. 

Su nueva ubicación en Covent Garden era, en mi opinión, menos icónica e integrada que su sitio original en King´s Road (quizás por eso el negocio no fue tan bien durante su última época). En cualquier caso el diseño del interior estaba tan bien cuidado y era tan maravilloso como en la tienda inicial. 

Se combinaban muebles clásicos con piezas modernas.Habían usado incluso materiales reciclados (como se podía ver en las cajas) y la presencia de vegetación hacía que el ambiente fuera muy agradable. 

The store was built around a courtyard, which had been closed by glass, and displayed a massive artwork piece hanging for the ceiling - simply stunning! It was also beautiful to see the different facades facing the courtyard.

La tienda estaba construida alrededor de un patio, que se había cubierto con vidrio, y que mostraba una gran obra de arte colgada del techo - una preciosidad! Era además muy bonito ver las diferentes fachadas que se asomaban al patio y que ahora formaban parte del interior de la tienda. 

The selection of fabrics, wallpapers, rugs, mannequins and all VM elements was exquisite. And the overall store journey was definitely enjoyable for any shopping and design  enthusiastics like myself. 

I will definitely miss this space during any future visits to London! 

La selección de telas, papeles, alfombras y elementos de visual merchandising era exquisita. Y el recorrido general a través de la tienda era sin duda muy entretenido para cualquier entusiasta de las compras y el diseño como yo.

¡Echaré de menos visitar este espacio en mis futuros viajes a Londres!
