Lucía Be [Pelayo 68, Madrid]

Spanish brand Lucía Be opened its first store in Madrid at the end of last year, but it took me so long to arrange a visit that I´ve had to wait until lock down was over... ¡But I have finally been able to go and it was worth the wait!

The space breathes Lucía Be and everything it represent such as femininity, party, craftmanship,... It´s organized in three clear areas: 1) The entrance, where there´s a beuatiful selection of their most known and desired products 2) The collections, a middle area where you can find their newest RTW and accesories 3) The lounge, where you can test their clothes and beauty products - featuring a massive pink velvet sofa and a huge pink neon (the dream!).

I particularly love a couple of original elements the refurbishment has kept, in particular the tiles flooring at the back. It´s so pretty and authentic...and creates a great connection with the surroundings and the specific area where the store is located (Madrid´s Chueca district).

I would definitely recommend tourists and locals to stop by this little gem and spend sometime appreciating Lucía Be´s cute product range, visual merchandising elements, drawings and the space overall.

THE SHOP AT BLUEBIRD

I´ve had these pictures seating in me camera waiting to be plubished since my last visit to London back in November. I just read the news that The Shop at Bluebird has closed its doors, and decided I must write this post inmediately.

The Shop at Bluebird has been a retail reference for me since I first moved to London years ago, when they were based in Chelsea. I loved this concept store for its design, product range, vibe,... and always made me dream about having a business like that myself one day.

Its new location in Covent Garden was, in my opinion, less iconic and integrated that its previous one on the famous King´s Road (which may be one of the reasons the business didn´t do so well this last era). However the interior design of the space was as amazing and well-thought as the original one.

The store combined classic furniture with the most modern options. They used recycled materials such as plastic (seen on the cashdesks) and the presence of vegetation made the environment extremely pleasant.

The store was built around a courtyard, which had been closed by glass, and displayed a massive artwork piece hanging for the ceiling - simply stunning! It was also beautiful to see the different facades facing the courtyard.

The selection of fabrics, wallpapers, rugs, mannequins and all VM elements was exquisite. And the overall store journey was definitely enjoyable for any shopping and design  enthusiastics like myself.

I will definitely miss this space during any future visits to London!

GLOSSIER [13 Floral St, London]

Last month during a quick work trip to London, I visited the brand new Glossier store in Covent Garden. I´ve been a big fan of this skincare and beauty brand for a while now. Everything from their products design, their packaging and, as I´ve seen now, their retail spaces are incredibly dreamy. So I can confirm that visiting their first UK site did not disappoint.

The store´s design definitely pays tribute to its location in the quite Floral Street, and it´s covered with beautiful floral prints in different colors, shades and forms (from wallpaper to carpet). It definitely makes you think of British tradition and the work of some renowned artists like William Morris. I particularly enjoyed walking through the different rooms and discovering a new color scheme and pattern each time (taking a thousand pictures along the way to use as my phone´s wallpaper).

Everything on display is a tester, which makes the retail experience really fun! And there are lots of staff members around to help you understand what every product is and how to use them. The visual merchandising is beautifully done and the fixtures design already incorporates a way to display each item. Once you´ve tried things and chatted with the Glossier girls, one of them will help you place an order online that you will shortly received beautifully packed through a small window in one of the rooms.

The overall experience is just incredibly nice and the environment really helps you get into the Glossier mood. Let´s not forget to mention there´s a beautiful "Instagram moment" at the end of the store, so what else do you need?!

I´ve had this pictures sitting in my computer for so long that I feel kind of embarrased to published them now... but his store is too good to miss out! So here they are! Castro Seis is one of my favorite places in my home town, La Coruña.

This concept store is exquisitely designed and I´m in love with every architectural element of it: from the façade, the floors and definitely all the display furniture.

The product mix is also great. In Castro Seis you can find home decor elements, bags, perfumes and cosmetic iteams, and they even feature the work of some new and amazing artists.

Do not hesitate to visit this store if you are in town! Just be aware you may want to buy way too many things from it...

CASA LOEWE LONDON [41-42 New Bond Street]

Just a few days after it opened its doors, I was able to visit the new Casa Loewe in London´s finest New Bond Street. The brand has relocated from its original location in Mount Street and has opened this new flagship, following the same design principles as Casa Loewe in Madrid and Tokio. This is definitely a new key location for a brand that is becoming more and more successfull every year since Jonathan Anderson became creative director.
Once again, just like in Madrid, the store evokes an art collectors home, and all the different elements (clothers, accessories, furniture and art) and perfectly integrated. There is a beautiful spiral staircase connecting the three floors, made of campaspero store. Overall, the material palette is all very natural with a mix of cast concrete walls, wood panelling, poured concrete floors and linen curtains. This space is definitely a new addition for your London lists. You may not be able to afford any items... but you would enjoy the visit for sure!

Anthropologie, one of my favorite stores to visit, finally opened a spot in Spain. We have been waiting for its arrival and I HAD to pay it a visit during my last trip to Barcelona (can´t wait for them to open in Madrid too!).

A massive octopus named Octavia and made just with recycled materials welcomes visitors into the space. Once inside you get the same vibe and aesthetic than in all their stores abroad, and I loved it!

The store is quite big and its divided in two floors. In it you can find clothing (mostly), accessories and its beautiful home décor. The visual merchandising is as stunning as always, and every corner of the store is extremely charming and eye catching.

One of my favorite elements in the space if the beautiful art installations in the staircase area. They have created a dense mass of paper butterflies that accompanies customers in their journey to the lower floor.

As I mentioned earlier, I can´t wait for the to open in Madrid very soon and be able to visit them often and find inspiration in their creativity.

MORE SELFRIDGES [400 Oxford Street, London]

A few weeks ago I was very lucky yo get a surprise weekend trip to my beloved London (I know, best birthday present ever!). I knew that visiting Selfridges&Co was a must, since so much had happened there since I left the city around a year ago.

I wanted to see the beautiful new entrance part of the David Chipperfield project and the Accessories Hall Phase 2 (Phase 1 feature on the blog two years ago!). It follows the same concept and design principles as the previous part, but it´s even more spacious and hols a lot more brands. I am absolutely in love with how Selfridges has refurbish this whole area and created an amazing accessories destination.

I also wanted to visit the new menswear area, the Designer Street Room, designed by Jamie Fobert Architects (who had already designed some of the most successful areas in Selfridges). The space reflects perfectly what Selfridges retail approach is about. It´s not just a place to shop, it´s a place to hang out, learn about the newest trends and even skateOnce again, the department stores keeps offering a unique shopping experience and I can´t wait to visit in another year´s time and see what´s new.

A few weeks ago I attended a very interesting lecture about niche luxury brands in Madrid and discovered Abanuc. I was fascinated about it from the start. It is a place where you can find the most exquisite perfumes and cosmetic products, and everything about them (from the store, their displays, theirs website, etc.) shows impecable taste.

The space was an old law book store and the owners decided to maintained its core as they found it. You can still see the old shelves and private reading room, which have been redecorated and enhanced with the beautiful VM elements and lighting

I absolutely adore this combination of two very different worlds.

The entrance on the other hand has been part of a redesign and it shows the main brands´ identity and concepts. I love how this acts as a surprise factor when you continue your way and discover the old part of the store.

Abanuc is definitely a must place to visit in the Salesas area, which as you can see from my previous post, it´s the new cool neighborhood and lots of interesting retail spaces are landing there.
